Don't you want me to wake up

I am finally getting around to posting these pictures that I took at the photo shoot I helped out on months ago (yea I'm still talking about that one photo shoot I helped with...)

Photobucket
The backdrop. That's a lot of burlap.

Photobucket
Matt putting up the burlap.

Photobucket
My favrourite part. Obviously.

Photobucket
The steamer that just didn't quite work. Dammit steamer, you had one job to do. One job!

Photobucket
Our alternative to the crappy steamer. We later found the actual ironing board.

Photobucket
Kayan fussing with Nicole's pants.

Photobucket
Nicole getting her hair did.

Photobucket
The little fashion minion trying to impersonate the model from behind the makeshift wall. Notice the height difference.

On another note, my friend Nathan was playing this album last night at his house. I always forget about this song, but whenever I hear it I remember how amazing it is. Enjoy.

Wednesday

Time heals all, or so I’ve been told

Some gems from my most recent peruse of bloglovin'.

Fashion Gone Rogue

It was kind of cold today, so I guess I'm in a sweater mood.

Ohhh to look that good while so disheveled. And seriously that shirt!

I need a pair of jeans like that. I also need for jeans to look like that on me.

I... want to be... that.

This makes me long for a trip to value village. I feel like I good find a cheap alternative to this outfit there.

If I leave before you, then I walk out alone

Hello! Holy crazy week. After a lovely long weekend at the cottage, I returned to mounds of uncompleted homework. I am slowly but surely working my through that, but for the time being I decided to take a little break to share something with you. You'll never guess what it is.... pictures of clothes I wore! Yay!

Photobucket
My old pal Michelle gave me this for my birthday a few weeks ago. It's crocheted, white, and wonderful. And it's from 69 Vintage, one of Toronto's little gems. I'm leaving the liner in for now because I am fond of it. But there may come a time when I decide to take it out. If I should do that, I will be sure to wear something substantial underneath, I promise.

Shirt - 69 Vintage, Jeans - Urban Outfitters, Bag - Roots, Sandals - Franco Sarto from L'Elegant

Actually now that I look at this, I recall that it was the outfit I wore on my first day of summer school! Not the kind of summer school you have to go to because you failed a class, but the kind you go to when you consciously make a choice to do full-time courses during the summer. I do not recommend making this choice. That's probably why I look so bitter.

Photobucket
Seriously, I am pretty much a spokesperson for Roots. They may as well sponsor me. Right? (Roots if you do decide to reward me for all the free glowing publicity I give to your bags, I am veeeery interested in this purse, in the bright pink and orange colour;). Worth a shot right?)

On another note, often when I write blog posts I listen to music while I write. And perhaps you noticed that my post titles are all song lyrics (no really!). So I have decided that from now on I will include whatever song I am currently listening to at the end of each post. Just for funsies! Please enjoy The Antlers, I don't want love.

Tuesday

My heart beats too loud to go to sleep

Fashionista.com told me to check out Madewell's fall 2011 collection, and I did. They also told me I would love everything in the collection, and I do! How did they know!?

Here are some of my favourite looks, along with as much witty commentary as I can come up with in the 10 minutes I am a allotting myself to do this post (I have homework and sleep to get to.)

Photobucket
This coat sort of looks like the coat that a Grizzly Bear wears...

Photobucket
Imagine this bear dry and you'll see what I mean.

Photobucket
We've done shorts skirts and we've done ridiculously long ones. This was the one skirt length that contemporary fashion had not yet experimented with, and now we've done it! We have nothing more to learn.

Photobucket
All this time I have been cuffing my jeans so neatly. Now I see there is another way to do it, a lumpier way. And I like it.

Photobucket
I just... I just love those shoes so much. Judging by the look on her face, she does too.

Photobucket
Sometimes I think "no, I can't wear my maxi skirt and a trendy hat at the same time, it's just too much!" Boy was I wrong!

Photobucket
Get ready; suspenders are back baby!

Photobucket
I wish I was this happy about anything. But I guess that's what happens when you wear yellow and pink together (I'm smiling a bit just talking about it!)

Photobucket
The great thing about fashion is that a huge coat totally compensates for the fact that you are wearing no tights and open toe shoes in the fall.

My computer is starting to make a weird noise now, so I guess that's all I have time for. If you are trying to go to sleep like I am, you might enjoy this song... Night.

Wednesday

Left standing in the wilderness downtown

This outfit was slightly inspired by a photo of model Jac wearing different shades of neutrals, which I posted a little while ago. Of course when I attempt it I end up looking slightly like a old-fashioned british boy (not for the first time I'm sure) and I'm totally fine with that. In fact I feel that the look of a old-fashioned british boy is totally hot... that may have come out wrong.

What I mean is I prefer a nice off white sock with loafers, to a strappy stiletto, and baggy high-waisted trousers to jeggings (do people find jeggins sexy?) To sum things up; this outfit may be shapeless and colourless, but I like it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
I decided to throw on an unstructured blazer mainly to add another layer of neutral in there, but also for warmth.

Photobucket
The denim jacket is what makes this outfit totally bad-ass.

Photobucket
And there you have it! Way hotter than stilettos and jeggings (and I'm not even being sarcastic. Jeggings are gross.)

Tuesday

Someday some morning sometime

So yesterday was my 23rd birthday, but I received no presents on that day. My family knows me well enough to know that the only thing I really want is clothing, but they can't really pick that out for me. So I do most of my Birthday shopping myself, and I get exactly what I want!

I was in the market for a holey sweater, and I found one! But little did I know the responsibilities that come with owning SUCH a holey sweater. Ie. don't wear necklaces, stay away from sharp edges, and avoid contact with all animals and humans. If you do not follow these rules, your new sweater will catch on things and eventually become more holey that you might like. I'm going to have to be very careful with this one.

I never want to spend money on accessories, yet I always need them. I found this mint green belt and H&M for about $12... I was on the fence about buying it, but then some lovely sales associate handed me a $5 off card. Done!

I bought these shorts from club monaco. I am in love with the colour, and the cut is very flattering. HOWEVER - and brace yourself because I am about to get a little negative here - I have a problem with the quality. When picking a pair, it was hard to find one in the right size that didnt have some stitching malfunction. I finally settled on this pair, and after wearing them out once, some of the stitching around the zipper is coming out. It's nothing I can't fix, it's just, and call me crazy, but for the price that Club Monaco charges for their clothing I would expect better quality than that. Nuff said... I still think the shorts are pretty though.

I have been in the market for a cordobès hat like the one Penelope Cruz wore in Vicky Christina Barcelona. I found this one, and I love it! And I certainly need it after the sunburn I got on my head (and shoulders, legs and nose) last week. It's even got a little detachable flower on the side, just for funsies!

Leopard print was so Fall/Winter 2010. Spring/Summer 2011 is all about snake skin! At least that's what I think ever since I found these snake skin sandals at a consignment store in Yorkville. Amongst all the Dior, Chanel and Missoni I found these - which were actually tangible to me - so I made them mine.

Photobucket
Sandals - Franco Sarto from L'Elegant

Photobucket

Good haul this year I'd say. Everything I bought goes together to form a lovely little outfit...

Photobucket

Should have worn sunglasses to avoid this whole squinty, misshapen eye situation. On another note, I am still looking for a new purse and possibly a colourful bustier, to be purchased with Birthday money from my Grandparents. Will keep you posted on my progress with those missions.

Monday

What you’ve done echoes on and on

The best way to relax after a weekend of partying with friends and family and celebrating your very own 23rd birthday is to sit in bed with a heating pack and a cup of tea, listen to Hey Rosetta and blog about pretty clothes.

But first, while we are on the subject of my birth, we may as well take a moment to recognize the woman responsible for that birth. Since it was just mother's day. (Btw my mom says I was the best Mother's day present she ever got :) ain't that sweet? )

Photobucket
This is my mother, Linda Lee Wolfe (she kept her maiden name like the strong, forward thinking, independent-minded woman she is!) We look a lot alike. I'm just going to boast about my mom a little bit more.. Go mom! She's awesome. She used to do the advertising for the Eaton's Centre and she worked with a lot of great fashion in her day. She takes most of the pictures of myself that I put on this blog (thanks mom!) But when she is not around I can usually convince other members of my family to perform this task.

My father, for instance, took the following photos a few weeks ago. My dad also rocks.

Photobucket
This outfit encompases a lot of the things that I love. Oxfords, striped socks, layering, cuffed jeans, and most importantly military mixed with floral... which reminds me of this...

Flower vs. Gun
... only slightly less depressing.
