So fresh and so clean.

It's been a busy couple of week (hence the lack of posting) filled with loads of school work. To put things into perspective, my past two Friday nights were spent doing homework on the couch at home, with either the Les Mis concert, or the Parent Trap on the TV in the background. I am clearly cooler than you.

And now it's LG Fashion Week, which I can barely comprehend, due to my stupid studies. My only connection to the fashion world is all of the privilaged people tweeting about it, and the occasional live video feed.

The Joe Fresh Fall 2011 fashion show was last night, and despite the multiple invitations they have sent me, along with the tweets and messages begging me to come and sit front row, I just had to decline (this is obviously sarcasm, we all got that right?). However I was able to take a break from homework to watch the live video feed of the show on the Joe Fresh Facebook group. So here are my thoughts...

I like that coat. Probably because it's really similar to one that I have... but I must have that one too! Also, what are those shiny pants made of? And those shoes are high heeled loafers. I love high heeled loafers! Well really loafers of any kind.

Annnnd now for some colourful coats, and some gold patent shoes.

So colourful! Especially for fall. And I like the look of that shirt underneath.

Nothing better than forest green in my opinion...

... Except maybe this. I will own this coat one day. I love how they did the same-colour blocking. All the blue is surprisingly balanced out by the crisp white shirt. I want to try this kind of look. And check out the little details on the coat, like the camel colour on the pockets and collar. Never have I liked the inside of a pocket so much.

You don't get the full effect here, but this was a lovely sheer shirt and a leather vest. Just great. Very Kimberly Taylor.

The that silk shirt with that skirt is so whimsical and dreamy.

Who said you can't wear a onesie in the fall? Not Joe that's for sure. Just throw on the long sleeves and button it to the top and you have a winter onesie... may I suggest tights as well?

Great colour and a very unique cut. I wonder if it would look as good on me as it does on her...

Seriously those shoes! And I love the skirt. It is such a spring colour, but it works perfectly for fall.

I'm getting tired so my comments for the last two outfits will be very to the point...

And there you go, some wise words from myself... particularly those last two, just profound really. Feel free to quote me. I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. Now back to homework, and hopefully sleep. I will post again soon, once I am released from the clutches of presentations and group projects. Oh the joys of learning.

I have so much work to do right now it's not even funny. But I stopped doing it and made this blog post, basically just so I could make that pun.

Flightless bird, American mouth

I just bought this skirt from American Apparel and I am so looking forward for a bright, sunny spring day to wear it on. Now I just wish I looked like this girl... is she hot or what? I was just telling Ruth La Ferla of NY Times Fashion (casually dropping that in / reassuring myself that I actually did talk to her and that it wasn't a dream) that girls and guys may have different opinions of the "sexiness" of long skirts. While I happen to think this grandma chic look is hotter than Megan Fox riding a motorcycle in a bikini, a guy might see it as just plain grandma, which might not be his thing.

And check out the fashion section of the NY Times on April 7 for a story on long skirts for springtime that might just feature yours truly ;) . While you're at it you may as well check out the rest of the paper too, I hear it's pretty good.

On a rainy Monday

It's raining and I have to go mail a letter (WhiteGirlProblem). How appropriate for the first day of Spring. I think that because it is Spring, and because it is raining, and because it is likely to rain some more, I should probably buy this Marc by Marc Jacobs Celeste Raincoat. Of course I have $335 to spend on a raincoat! I don't have money for food, shelter, or tuition, but I could definitely invest in a classic piece that will keep my dry while I'm walking to school because I don't have money for the Go Bus... and look how shiny it is!!!

The April issue of InStyle combines some of my greatest loves ... Tina Fey, colour blocking, and camel. She is looking goooood. Maybe a tad to airbrushed... but look at her wearing a camel onesie and some tight bright colours! Bit of a change from the jeans and blazers she wears on 30 Rock (which I still love BTW). When asked about her wardrobe on the show she states “It’s ironic that Liz Lemon is supposed to look kind of bedraggled, she looks way more pulled together than I would if I were going to write for the show. I wouldn’t wear a blazer—I’d wear a sweat jacket.”

God I love her. I love her so much.

Vision of division

I really want glasses. I have for some time now. But every time I got to the optometrist just hoping he says to me "Kendra, you are going blind and need to spend $300 on new glasses immediately or else", I'm always extremely disappointed when he actually says "Kendra, you do not need glasses at all please stop coming to see me so often it's weird." What's the deal with that? But I might go in again soon and perhaps this time he will say "fine, I'll percribe you reading glasses if you promise to leave me and my family alone."

When that happens, I think these are the glasses I will buy. While waiting for the bus today I saw a girl wearing them and swooned. They are Marc Jacobs and they are beautiful. I like the ones that are lighter at the bottom... ombre frames? Yea.

I guess I could always just buy the frames with unprescribed lenses, but for some reason I don't think my healthcare covers impostor glasses.

I can't explain.

Beige might possibly be the most exciting colour ever. Seriously though, I looked in my closet and realized that most of my clothes are of the brown/beige/neutral variety. And looking at these outfits from Valentino Fall 2011, I can see that isn't likely to change any time soon.

Another great collection from Milan fashion week. Marni F/W 2011... Also on a side note, I listened to Neil Young all day. Just one of those days... ok now on to Marni.

Leather on top of fur on top of sequins. Glad to see that texture layering will still be in full force next Fall.

Leather gloves. Of Course! Much better than the ratty wool ones that are featured in most of my NYFW pics....

Mmm watermelon.

Furry watermelon? I'll take it! (I had to google that term just to make sure it didn't mean something weird. It doesn't. Mostly just found pictures of animals eating watermelons, which entertained me for about 15 min.)

A few posts ago I mentioned that trendsetter clown and his fashionable collar. Well here it is in fur! With matching wrist warmers... the clown didn't think of that one!

Very business casual. If I could afford this, I would wear this to the office... also, I would need to find an office to go to.

Now that's just ridiculous. This is clearly a Spring outfit. I refuse to wear this in the Fall. Refuse.

This outfit is nice. But what's even nicer is Arizona Muse... but also the outfit. yea.

Tell me what's your favorite color

A few reasons why I love the Fendi Fall/Winter 2011 collection...

# 1. This beautiful pastel green colour.

Now don't get me wrong I have always liked green. I liked green way before it was cool. I liked green before you even knew what green was. But the point is I have seen quite a bit of this particular shade of green lately, and I have to say I really like the direction that green is going in.

# 2. Lately I'm a big fan of Mary Janes.

Look at those beauties! They are like MJs on ecstasy. That's just how I like my shoes; on drugs! (I don't entirely know what that means, but it feels right)

# 3. Colourful tights.

I used to have a pair of bright yellow tights, then one day I was pulling them up and I ripped about 2 million holes in them. But when I wore them (pre holes) I used to get a lot of weird looks and comments. I plan to buy another pair, and I will probably still get weird looks and comments but the difference is now I can weirdly look at those people back and say "Um haven't you heard of Fendi?" Yea... that'll show them!

And seriously the deep red ones are just wonderful.

# 3. The use of that "burlap sac" type wool

Ok I'm sure it's a lot nicer than I burlap sac. Doesn't it look cozy?

# 4. Lot's of oversized coats.

Is there anything better than a coat you could fit 5 people in? I would argue that there isn't. And that last one kind of reminds me of the classic The Bay coat. You know the one. If you don't know the one, here it is on Rachel Bilson (and if she's wearing it, you know it's cool.)

And those are the reason that I like Fendi... and apparently The Bay. I hope you liked it too.
